Tackling a small mod and hoping someone here has been down this road, so I'm trying to remove the stock mirror mounts on my 2019, the ones that stick up from the controls, not just unscrewing the mirrors themselves. I swapped to bar end mirrors and want to clean up the look, but these threaded stalks are still sitting there like antennas.
I've already unscrewed the mirrors, obviously, but the actual mounts don't seem to come off as easily as I expected. Are they part of the perch, or is there a way I can safely get them off without damaging anything? I'd prefer not to swap the whole perch setup just for a cleaner bar.

The mirror mounts you're talking about are part of the control perch, so they really dont come off separately. To clean up the look, you'd need to swap the perch or cut the stalks off and clean them up, but thats a more permanent mod. No easy bolt off option for it unfortunately

I've seen some Z650s with bar mirrors but I never managed to talk to someone who has them. I do like the clean look, but I'm worried about visibility. Are the elbows getting in the way?

Have you checked if the mounts are press-fit or threaded into the perch, or is there a hidden clip or set screw that most people miss when trying to remove them?
