I'm new here and I'm looking for some advice on rebuilding my 2021 Z650 after a low-speed accident. I was T-boned under 20mph, which thankfully my frame slider absorbed most of the impact, but the bike still took a hit. Damage includes broken plastics, a punctured radiator and smushed mount, bent bars, and I'm hoping the forks are just twisted in the triple tree rather than actually bent. The front wheel, tire, and brake seem okay, and the electrics survived even though the fuse panel cover and surrounding plastics got smashed. I've also got some minor scratches on the tank and rear.
I'm trying to disassemble everything now, starting from stripping the bars, plastics, and radiator. I'll be draining the tank, oil, and what's left of the coolant. I'll definitely need a new battery too. I'm planning to have a shop check out the forks to be safe. My goal is to get it back on the road as a personalized street fighter, so I'm also looking into aftermarket bars, a round headlight, different plastics, and bar-end mirrors. Any tips or recommendations on parts, or just general advice for this kind of rebuild, would be greatly appreciated!
