Heat and gear clunk

I'm new to riding and bought a 2020 Kawasaki Z650 with 6K miles from a neighbor. It runs fine but gets warmer in city traffic and makes a loud clunk when I shift into 1st. I flushed the coolant and changed the oil. Should I be worried or is this how these bikes behave?

Hmmm... a slight warm-up in city traffic is normal, but the clunk in first gear could be the clutch or transmission needing adjustment. Bring it to a mechanic for a check so it can be safe before it turns into a bigger issue.

I agree it makes sense for a mechanic to check the bike. I have scheduled an inspection at a local shop for the clutch system next week. Is there a specific adjustment or common wear part on the Z650's clutch I should ask them to check?
