Exhaust swap dilemma 2017-2019 vs 2020+ Z650

I just picked up a used 2018 Z650, and I'm already itching to upgrade the exhaust. I stumbled upon the Ixil L3XB, but it seems they have different versions for the 2017-2019 and the 2020+ models. Honestly, the older version just looks so much better to me,it's lower and has that aggressive vibe I love

But here's my concern: I've heard that there were some frame and mounting tweaks in 2020. Has anyone out there successfully slapped the older exhaust on a 2020 or newer Z650? I'd love to hear any thoughts or experiences before I make the leap

@quickshiftquirks484 check if there were any changes to the O2 sensor bung locations or catalytic converter placement between those generations.
Sometimes, even if you can physically bolt it up, the sensor might not reach, or the exhaust flow might be optimized differently for the newer emissions setup.
If the older exhaust ditches the cat or places it differently, the bike's ECU might not be happy without a reflash, which adds complexity beyond just fitment

If you love the older version's look, go for it but expect fabrication work. The 2020+ models did get slight frame and bracket changes, so direct fitment likely won't happen without custom mounts or welding

What's the reason for wanting to upgrade the exhaust? Is it that you're not satisfied with the performance or just for upgrading purposes? I want to know so I can better help, but since this is a bit late, you might have already resolved this thread.
